Ngasuma Kanyeka

    Founder and Managing Director

    Ngasuma Kanyeka, the Founder and Managing Director of Capacitate Consulting, is a thought leader on economic growth and development in Africa. In July 2013 she was one of the key commentators on BBC world service during President Barack Obama visit to Tanzania.

    Ms. Kanyeka’s leadership experience spans both the private sector and development institutions in Africa. In 2012, she fundraised USD 2 Million from the private sector in Tanzania for the Fellows Program of the Benjamin Mkapa Foundation. She is also a lead facilitator of the Africa Union Youth Volunteer Corp (AUYVC), Pre-Service Training program. The AUYVC is a continental development program that recruits youth volunteers, to work in all 54 countries across the African Union. The Pre-Service Training Program prepares volunteers for their country of deployment and/or enhances their capacity to deliver on their roles. Over the past 5 years, she has trained 400 youth volunteers from 30 countries in Africa and continues to work with the Africa Union Commission to support youth-focused policy and advocacy initiatives. She is currently managing Je Nifanyeje, a 12 month, nation-wide radio program for Voice of America Swahili Service which aims to empower young people to make informed decisions about their physical and social health.

    Ms. Kanyeka is an experienced contributor to policy and diplomacy consultations for the Government of Tanzania. She supported the Government of Tanzania in highlighting Tanzania’s priority issues at the International Conference on Population Development (ICPD) in April 2014. Domestically, she served as technical adviser to a coalition of more than 100 Non-Governmental Organisations to generate inputs to the development of Tanzania’s National Strategy for Growth and Poverty Reduction II.

    Ms. Kanyeka is an alumni fellow of the United Nations Population Fund’s Special Youth Fellowship in New York. She has also worked as a communication specialist with the UN Association of Norway and as a journalist, researcher and consultant for the communication sector in Tanzania and across the continent. Ms. Kanyeka holds a Master of Philosophy in International Health Promotion from the University of Bergen, Norway, and a Bachelor of Science in Computing and Information Technology from London Metropolitan University, United Kingdom.


        Suzan Aroko

        Project Coordinator

        Ms. Suzan Aroko holds a BA in International Relations from the University of Dodoma. She has worked on various health, child and youth related programs since 2011 including with OXFAM on programs aimed at supporting small farmers in Kilosa and Kilombero, Morogoro.  She has also partnered with Chris Morgan , an experienced BBC producer, for whom she supported a production on children with cancer at the Muhimbili Children’s Cancer Ward. The production was in collaboration with the international organization Children in CrossFire.  Ms. Aroko is a former Fellow of the Johns Hopkins University Centre for Communication Programs (JHUCCP) Tanzania Capacity and Communications Project (TCCP) Through the fellowship she garnered skills in leadership and health communication, and she has proven to be one of the most outstanding fellows at the JHUCCP program. She is instrumental to the successful implementation of all Capacitate Consulting Projects.


            Priscilla Mlay (Cece)

            Production Manager

            Ms. Mlay is a highly skilled television and video producer with more than 4 years of experience. One of her major production achievements is the Siriya Mtungi local TV series which ran for 2 seasons over 12 months. The series was nominated at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards in several categories including Best Television Series. She also produced @Mgahawa, a current affairs program with Snap Productions which was aired on East Africa TV. She developed Production Designs on two short films, Shoe Shine and Samaki Mchangani. Shoe Shine was produced by Canal Film France and Kijiweni Productions and has been shown at several international film festivals including the Roterdam Film Festival. Shoe Shine won the award for best short film at Zanzibar International Film Festival (ZIFF) in 2013. Samaki Mchangani is being produced by Focus Features and Kijweni Productions and is scheduled for release in 2014. Ms. Mlay has a wealth of international experience in media production and design, both internationally and locally, and brings great creativity and energy to the team.

                Issa Salim Issa

                Field Logistics Coordinator

                Mr. Issa possesses a Bachelor’s Degree in International Business Management from University College of Technology and Innovation, Kuala Lumpur. He has worked with Capacitate Consulting for the past year for which he supports coordination of field implementation of Capacitate Consulting Projects. He has worked on projects by VOA, USAID, BMAF, OSIEA, UNDP, NORAD, UMATI and SAGCOT. Prior to this, Mr. Issa worked as a Sales and Marketing Officer at Ultimate Security in Dar es Salaam where he was responsible for key client coordination and engagement tasks including client complaint resolution, Sales and Delivery Logistics, and development of client information packs. He is skilled in managing media intervention projects and coordinating logistics for field activities.

                    Charles Killian Mwalongo

                    Logistics and Procurement Assistant

                    Mr. Mwalongo is the newest addition to the Capacitate Consulting Ltd Team. He possesses a Bachelor of Procurement and Logistics Management from the Institute of Accountancy in Arusha. He has 4 years of combined professional and volunteer experience. From 2010 –2013, he was a member of the Youth of United Nations Association, a development platform for young people to engage with the United Nations to address key issues affecting youth. He is currently a Fellow of the Johns Hopkins University Centre for Communication Programs (JHUCCP) Tanzanian Capacity and Communications Project (TCCP). Mr Mwalongo handles field and program related procurement and logistics issues. He is also registered as a member of the Procurement and Supplies Professionals and Technicians Board of Tanzania.

                        Maria Kisole

                        Accounts and Finance Manager

                        Ms Kisole has worked with Capacitate Consulting Ltd since its establishment in 2011. She has a Diploma in Business Administration from the College of Business Education, Dar es Salaam and has over 15 years of financial management and accounting experience in Tanzania. She also possesses a certificate in Computer Based Information from the College of Business Education. Ms Kisole manages all day to day financial and administrative matters at Capacitate Consulting Ltd. She also handles client accounts including reporting on grant expenditure. She has a good understanding of varying financial reporting frameworks and systems. Ms Kisole is diligent, determined and a valuable asset to the team.
