David Wainaina

Mr Wainaina is a seasoned advocacy and communication expert with a notable track record of creating impactful climate change programs in Kenya. In 2011, he played a crucial role in influencing climate change policy as part of the Kenyan delegation to the UNFCCC COP17, serving as the National Coordinator of the African Youth Initiative on Climate Change – Kenya (AYICC-K).  David has volunteered in various African countries, including organizing the Desmond Tutu inspired We Have Faith Act Now for Climate Justice Campaign which traversed seven Sub-Saharan countries, amassing over 200,000 petitions to urge world leaders to accelerate action on climate change. 

David’s commitment to youth leadership and advocacy is further underscored by his participation in significant global events. He represented the opinions of over 50 young people at the IPPF’s Emerging Leaders conference in Norway and was selected to represent youth perspectives during the 60th anniversary celebration of IPPF in Durban, South Africa in November 2012. David Holds a B.A. Degree in Psychology from Kenyatta University in Kenya.
