Ngasuma Kanyeka, MBA, MPhil

“How do you seamlessly integrate social marketing, IT, media, health promotion, youth and gender development into one job?  Easy.  By establishing a communication development firm that creates effective solutions,” was Ngasumas’ response, and thus Capacitate was born in February 2011. 

Ngasuma Kanyeka the visionary behind Capacitate, is a dynamic young woman with a diverse background. She has been a fellow at UNFPA HQ in New York, worked as a communication specialist at the UN Association of Norway, and served as a journalist, researcher and consultant for Media in Tanzania and across the continent. 

Ngasuma is not just a gifted writer but a creative individual adept at handling complex development issues. Her involvement in the National Strategy for Growth and Reduction of Poverty (MKUKUTA) in Tanzania, where she supported a government process involving over 100 entities, resulted in the incorporation of   over 80% of comments from Civil Society Organisations. She has designed campaigns and written publications that not only sell but effectively tell the clients’ story’ to their target audience.  

Ngasuma holds an MPhil in International Health Promotion from the University of Bergen, Norway, where her research focused on positive psychology and sustainable livelihood. She also holds a BSc in Computing and Information Technology from London Metropolitan University, UK. Recently she completed an MBA from the University of Cambridge in the UK and is currently working towards completing her Ph.D from Havard School of Public Health.
